Ides of March

Score: 4.5/5

Ides of March is a political drama directed by George Clooney, starring himself and Ryan Gosling as the leads. The film is packed with betrayal, lying and a whole lot of drama. The story line is based off of a play, and is very interesting and enthralling. At times, viewers may feel disoriented by small things here and there, but overall, the film does a good job of staying on point and ends up delivering in the long run. The acting is top-notch, probably due to the fact that you have Clooney, Gosling and Seymour Hoffman all on-screen at their finest. That is a deadly group of guys when given good source material to work with, as they do here in Ides of March.

The pacing of the film may be a little inconsistent, along with some quirks and hitches in the story bringing it down a tad, but everything else about the film, like it’s interesting plot totally reverses all the negative aspects. Ides of March isn’t quite a strong enough film to win Picture of the Year, but is a very respectable film in it’s own right, with a great plot, a superb cast, high drama and true character. Whether a fan of politics or not, Ides of March is worth checking out and you’re sure to appreciate and enjoy what it has to offer.
